Hospitality rights and ticket sales are major sources of revenue for FIFA when it comes to the world cup. In 2022, FIFA is targeting $500 million from these two sources. Ticket sales have begun and as observed, the ticket prices have seen an increase of 46% compared to the previous world cup. 

The ticket for the FIFA World Cup final on 18th December at Lusail stadium is priced at 5,850 Qatari riyals ($1,607). This is 46% more costly than the 2018 FIFA final ($1100) which France won.

While category 3 tickets are the cheapest option available to international fans priced at 2200 Qatari riyals ($600). This is 33% more expensive than the world cup hosted in Russia. While category 4 tickets are only available to local residents and are priced at 750 riyals which is $206. 

The tickets for the opening match between the hosts Qatar and Ecuador have soared 37% compared to the 2018 Russia world cup. 

Barring the opening match, all other group stage matches, the Qatari residents can buy tickets for just 40 Qatari Riyals ($11). These are the cheapest tickets for locals since the 1986 world cup held in Mexico. While cheapest tickets for international fans for group stage matches are priced at $69.
